Terms of use — Linda (formerly Linda-Pro)

1. Seller and payments

Linda is provided by Vladyslav Manzyuk, an individual based in Poland (contact: lindapro.support@proton.me). Licence keys are sold through Polar, which acts as Merchant of Record: Polar is your seller of record for taxes and receipts and handles refunds. Polar uses location-based tax presentation. Polish checkout totals include tax; elsewhere it can be added or included. Check the final amount and tax before paying. Organization renews yearly until cancelled; Personal/Team are one-time purchases.

2. What is free

The Windows app, the command-line tools and package, the code, the models (weights) and the calibration are free for personal, non-commercial use under CC BY-NC 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/legalcode), including when downloaded from Hugging Face or GitHub.

3. Commercial licence

Commercial use (paid work, work for clients or operations of a company, school, university or organization) requires permission. One licence covers the app, CLI, models and calibration. Personal: one person, up to 3 devices. Team: up to 10 people, up to 20 devices. Organization: one organization at one site, up to 200 devices. The key is proof of permission, not a technical unlock. Personal and Team keys are perpetual for the purchased version and its fixes; new features or models may need a separate licence. Organization includes the paid year's updates and renews automatically in Polar until cancelled. Individuals and organizations may evaluate Linda for commercial use free of charge for 14 calendar days from their first launch of the application. No registration, separately agreed start date, paid key, payment card or subscription is required. This is a licence permission, not an app timer or technical lock; the user is responsible for observing the period. Reinstallation, an update or switching devices does not restart the period for the same person or organization. The trial is for internal evaluation, without resale, redistribution, third-party hosting or adverse decisions about people. After the period, continued commercial use requires the appropriate paid licence. Personal non-commercial use remains free under CC BY-NC 4.0 without a 14-day limit. There is no automatic charge, renewal or conversion to a paid subscription. Texts remain with the user; sharing aggregate feedback is optional.

4. Not included

Exclusive rights, OEM or white-label integration into another product, hosting Linda as a service or API for third parties, redistribution of the models, and custom calibration are not part of these licences; they are agreed individually in writing.

5. No sole basis for decisions

Linda gives a probabilistic estimate that is wrong in some cases, including false accusations of people who wrote their text themselves (writers who are not native English speakers are affected more). You must not use a result as the sole basis for decisions about a person (academic misconduct, employment, legal or disciplinary matters).

6. Warranty and liability

The software is provided “as is” without warranty. To the extent permitted by law the author is not liable for indirect or consequential damages; liability for direct damages is limited to the price paid for the licence. Mandatory consumer rights are not affected.
